A series of
workshop sessions and one-on-one consultations will provide parents with
information and strategies to help build and expand their knowledge base
to support children's literacy learning. These workshops will help
parents learn how to set up a portfolio, record their observations,
collect samples and build on authentic daily life experiences to support
their child's literacy learning. The information collected can be shared
with schools in order to facilitate the parent-school learning
partnership.
A team of local experts including members of the Family Matters and
Nursery School staff will work together with Dr. Jane Baskwill of Mount
Saint Vincent University and in consultation with Annapolis Valley
teachers and Early Childhood educators to develop these workshops.
We will be posting more information as it becomes available.
